The Eagle One Pro is Varla’s first beast scooter, and it seems we’ll see a lot of top-quality high-performance scooters this year. This is in the context of Segway’s GT Series and the brand new Apollo Pro.

Varla’s Eagle One Pro sits on the fence as an extremely light-weight scooter that borrows its specs from beast scooters. It surpasses the weight of resident lightweight heavyweights Apollo Phantom, Vsett 10+, along with the Kaabo Mantis Pro, which weighs 79 pounds. And, it also has 11 inches of road tires, which is typical of beast scooters such as Storm and Wolf King GT. Storm as well as the Wolf King GT.

Acceleration

Varla Eagle Pro Varla Eagle Pro’s speed is not typical of lightweight heavyweight scooters. It is so much better. Fast Varla Scooter. This is the performance you would expect from heavyweights with a long history like those of Wolf Warrior 11 at 1.9 seconds, Dualtron Thunder at 2.0 seconds, along with it’s Dualtron Thunder II at 2.2 seconds. This is because the Varla Eagle Pro’s only competition in the light-heavyweight category includes the Vsett 10+ with a 1.9 seconds of acceleration, accelerating to 15 mph.

It is worth noting that the Eagle One Pro uses the same throttle as the NAMI and Wolf King GT, which implies that it also has the same dead zone. You may want to consider finding an angle that will anchor your thumb to keep it in place and provide it an ideal reference location when engaging.

 

Top Speed

We love this Varla Eagle Pro’s top speed, especially for its price tag. The scooter has a staggering forty mph top speed, which is much higher than the what is considered to be average when it is compared with other scooters within the same price range. The more expensive Kaabo Mantis Pro only hits 37 mph top speed, while the Inokim OXO, still at a higher price, only reaches 36 mmh.

Range

Nothing beats good mileage on the scooter which is why this Varla Eagle One Pro scooter offers a decent 58 km of range tested. The only scooter less than $400 from its Eagle One Pro that can outdo it in the scale is the Wolf Warrior X Pro, which has a range tested of 41 miles. It beat other scooters with higher prices, e.g., the Kaabo Mantis Pro with a 33 mile range, Dualtron Eagle Pro at 32 miles and Vsett 10+ with 33 miles.

Behind the range is a large capacity 60V 24 Ah battery that has 1440 Wh of power. It is larger and more efficient with 21700 battery cells. This is an improvement from the predecessor, called that of the Eagle One, whose battery was valued at 946 wh and only came with 18650 lithium cell. Both batteries are equipped with intelligent battery management systems that preserve life. The process of charging the battery to its capacity takes between 8 and 9 hours however you can purchase a second charger and reduce charge time to about four to five hours.

 

Braking

Let’s face it; we wish all scooters had hydraulic brakes. However, that doesn’t mean electric scooters that have cable brakes are dangerous or unreliable when they need to stop. Absolutely not. The EABS prevents your brakes from locking up. They can be adjusted using the P-settings displayed on the display. You can adjust them between 0 and 2, where 0 is on the weak setting and 2 is a stronger setting.

 

Ride Quality

Its ride is decent however it’s not the best. The caveat they never mention when talking about all-terrain e-scooters is that the primary focus should be on off-roading features.

The pneumatic road tires with no tube are excellent for comfort, especially when traveling offroad. The tubeless nature of these tires is ideal for avoiding pinch flats that are caused by rocks. If, however, you’re buying the scooter to use primarily on urban tracks, you’d be better off switching to self-sealing knobby tires. They will automatically increase your traction, retain your comfort, and decrease maintenance. In addition, because of the tires and 17 centimeter clearance on the ground obstacles on the track will not cause damage to the underdeck

The suspension feels stiff. It’s a bit stiff. Varla Eagle Pro could have been better off with adjustable shocks or adapting a spring with a lower spring rate. But the rigid setup works well when taking on large bumps, and prevents the scooter from crashing. If the track is well maintained the suspension is a little too bouncy for the comfort.

The Eagle Pro also comes with an inbuilt steering damper. At high speeds along straight tracks riders will enjoy excellent stability. At top speed, the stability doesn’t match that offered by dual stem monsters such as those on the Wolf King GT but rather feels like a Dualtron Thunder or Nami Burn with a damper for steering installed. The downside is that the steering damper also makes it so that drivers will have to push harder on the bar handles when trying to negotiate turns.

The deck is yet another area of concern. It’s too narrow and due to this lack of deck real estate it is a constant struggle for riders to place the back foot on the footrest that isn’t ergonomically designed. The only bright side is that the Varla Eagle Pro compensates for its poor posture with a well-laid-out cockpit that is easy to use. It’s designed to provide comfort and ease of use. Its controls can be also ergonomically designed and complement the clear, large 9 centimeter screen.

Overall, with the heavy steering feel and the athletic riding stance and the fast acceleration The Eagle One Pro is exhilarating to ride but could also be quite an exercise when you’re on the road for a long time.

What Makes the Pro Version Different From Eagle One

  • There were some significant improvements that Varla did to the original Eagle One to get the Pro. Here are some of the key differences:
  • The Pro has a stated top speed of 45 mph while the original Eagle One has a manufacturer-cited top speed of 40 mph. There’s not much difference.
  • The Pro has 1440 Wh of power, The Eagle One’s battery is rated at 946 Wh. The difference is 52% that translates to better performance with the Pro.
